Election Coverage 2011 - Open Thread

For those of you who just can’t wait for election results to come out in print, TV Tacoma will be televising live election coverage for your viewing pleasure.  Starting at 8:00 p.m. you can enjoy hosted election returns coverage, along with candidate interviews, field reports, and discussion of the issues.  We’re thinking a bucket of popcorn, a nice bottle or two of pinot and a few of your nerdiest politico friends, with TV 12 on in the background while watching twitter and reading the Facebooks … Now there’s a party waiting to happen.

For details of planned coverage, and viewing information, read the press release.

We’re throwing our own little election day party/open forum right here.  As we head into the final day of electioneering, here’s your chance to vent, celebrate, grandstand, re-hash, and armchair quarterback this year’s election issues to your heart’s content. What are you thinking about on this election day?

O.K., this is a University Place endorsement, not Tacoma, but we are close neighbors, right? I endorse my next-door neighbor Caroline Belleci for UP City Council. I have known Caroline 11 yrs and can attest to her intelligence and long-time positive contributions to UP. She considers issues carefully and always with a view to cost. If you have not yet filled out your ballot, UPers, vote Caroline.

Vote for Robert Jesse Hill for Tacoma City Council District #3 the only legitimate certified sane candidate.
Will Baker and Kyle Jolibois are 2 other good candidates too.

Robert Hill lost his election bid (which is quite reasonable as he
was a gadfly fringe (and mostly incarcerated) candidate). However he had a higher percentage of voters vote for him this time around against incumbent Lauren Walker as compared to his 2008 bid for Pierce County Sheriff against Sheriff Paul Pastor. So far about 22% of the registered voters voted for him whereas in 2008 he only had 19% of the registered voters vote for him.
