Election Night Parties?
We’ve received several inquiries in the last few days asking us where folks should go on election night to watch the results come in. Pretty straightforward questions. Except, we don’t know of too many options.
We have heard that if your politics are of the leftward blue-leaning variety, you can head to the IBEW Hall at 3049 South 36th Street for a gathering of Democrats that begins around 7:30 pm on Tuesday night. There will be food and drinks. You are also asked to bring a can of food for the local food bank.
As far as restaurant based events and parties for the red-leaning crowds, or anyone else, we haven’t heard. Anyone with details?
Where are you going to be on Tuesday night?

The Red Hot will have Election Coverage up on our big screen. No matter your “affiliation”, our strict ‘no jerks’ policy will be upheld. It’s also $2 Tuesday that night, our own version of an economic stimulus package. $2 pints of a rotating handle, and $2 Red Hot hot dogs.

Some of us South Enders are getting together for a private gathering – both Democrats and Republicans will be in attendance. We plan on one big group hug in the end..We’ve all worked so hard to improve our community no matter what our party affiliation, this just seems like the right way to spend election night..
So, Go Obama, but much respect to my McCain counterparts – I just don’t want to see you cry on election night – save it for a private time in your own home :)

Pat,
The no crying goes for you too! I have a feeling there would be a lot more crying if Obama loses than if McCain lost.
Go McCain and Rossi!

hmm… 3049 South 36th Street. That sounds familiar.
Looky here, it’s the same address as some slime mail I just received against a Democratic candidate. The place can’t be that “blue-leaning” if they are tossing slime towards established Democrats.
Personally, my blue self will probably be steering clear of that place and hitting up some friend’s places were I know people are a bit more true.

David, I got that mailing to. I’m with you… Not a real Blue place at all

3049 South 36th Street is where Pierce County Democratic Party HQ is located; it’s where we got our Dem yard signs. But anybody can stick any return address on something and stick it in the mail. I’m not sayin’ it didn’t come from there; but it’s a possibility.

Vote for a President that will serve the citizenry, not kill them.
M Michael November 1, 2008
How about, let’s be concerned with not electing a President that will kill our system of government. SAY NO TO SOCIALISM!
M Mofo from the Hood November 2, 2008
Right on Michael! Self-reliance, not entitlement! (And furthermore, who would want to be not born into Obama’s world?)
T Thorax O'Tool November 2, 2008
Say no to ALL incumbents, across the board.

An election party?
Couldn’t you call it a political party?
Anyhoo I don’t plan to celebrate or cry, we’re equally boned no matter which party wins the Governor’s Mansion/White House.

I’ll be at the Tempest Lounge at 9th Street S and MLK, celebrating or commiserating. Nonpartisan gathering, but mostly a blue-ish crowd.
