Fold Cranes For First Night... and a Wish

With all the First Night Festivities tonight, there are many options for you. I’m sure you already have a plan. But, here’s the latest to catch our eye:
Come by the Asia Pacific Cultural Center at 934 Broadway, Ste. 5 (Lower Level) from 5–8 p.m. and play with some newly designed, letterpress-printed paper for free.
An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane. In recent years, the crane has become a symbol of peace. Asia Pacific Cultural Center will attempt to fold 1,000 paper cranes during First Night. Visitors are urged to help accomplish this feat on hand-printed paper, courtesy of Beautiful Angle. Center staff will be teaching everyone how to fold the origami cranes. The cranes will become part of a permanent exhibit at the cultural center. Fold a crane and make a wish for the New Year.

The Crane folding sounds nice and everything, but seriously, there is only one must-see event a First Night this year:
Valentine’s Performing Pigs, 6-6:45 p.m.
Pig Olympics, a large World Class Stage Act! Jumping pigs, “ham-dunking” mini-pigs, pigs energetically playing soccer, golf, bowling, football, and skateboarding! Different from the pig races, the amazing and hilarious porkers are something people have never witnessed before, and probably never will again. Each incredible and adorable show is followed by a “Meet and Greet” the pigs session with the audience. As seen on Letterman, Oprah, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Animal Planet. Starring Nellie, World’s Smartest Pig!
‘Nuff said.
