Free Electronics Recycling This Saturday
This Saturday Tacomans will have the opportunity to recycle old, used, broken, or unwanted electronics Thanks to Friendly Earth and The Champion Centre. Old, used, broken or unwanted electronics will be accepted for free. Friendly Earth, a Seattle-based non-profit electronic recycling organization, aims to provide alternative ways to dispose of electronic waste. This sounds like a great way to get started on the spring cleaning, and to make sure those old electronics don’t end up in the landfill.
Items that will be accepted include (but are not limited to):
- appliances (washers, dryers, refrigerators, A/C & heating units),
- metals (all forms, ferrous and non ferrous),
- computer equipment and components (server equipment, printers, fax machines, scanners, key boards, monitors),
- home and business electronics (cell phones, pagers, TV’s, VHS/DVD/BRAY players),
- batteries (single charge, multi-charge *lithium and metal hydride, alkaline, lead batteries),
- machinery (lawn and farm equipment, personal and commercial vehicles, bikes – Machinery must be EMPTIED of all fluid to be accepted) and
- electronic accessories (power cords, cables, CD’s, DVDs, hard disks, chargers).
Items that will NOT be accepted include: speakers, light bulbs, paints, wood based products and small miscellaneous plastics.
