Dia de los Muertos at TAM

Looking for something fun and free, and maybe a little different to do this Sunday before Halloween? Yeah, us too. Instead of watching slasher movies and sticking your hand in a goopy pumpkin, how about a free community festival to honor loved ones who have passed away with traditional Latin American art, food, live music and dance? The Tacoma Art Museum, in partnership with Centro Latino brings you the Dia de los Muertos Free Community Festival – a chance to see and participate in traditional art forms celebrating and honoring the dead in a festive atmosphere. And don’t worry, you have the chance to decorate a sugar skull, so there’ll be candy there too. Event details on the “Tacoma Art Museum website.”: http://www.tacomaartmuseum.org/Page.aspx?cid=7498

Trunk or Treat
While we focus our attention on the shiny new LeMay museum rising up next to I-5, we sometimes forget about the old LeMay site out at Marymount. This weekend could be your opportunity to get out to Marymount and enjoy a bit of candy and cars at the LeMay Trunk or Treat event. “Children trick-or-treat outdoors by going from car trunk to car trunk to get their bag filled with goodies. Individuals or groups host and decorate a trunk and provide the candy to be given out to the children at the event.” Cars and candy … perfect. Oh, and FREE! Read more at LemayMarymount.org
