Gates - Gorton "Great State Income Tax Debate" at UW Tacoma on Monday
In case it isn’t painfully obvious by now, it’s election season. This time of year can be distinguished from other times of the year by the marked increase in conspiratorial thought, glorification of divisiveness and perpetual shrill reminders that everything is on the verge of collapse. Nothing brightens such a murk of politics like the chance to witness a healthy, balanced, no-nonsense debate between non-candidates about a pertinent issue (the word “nothing” is used loosely in this case).
So get out your “Pros Vs. Cons” notebook and saunter over to the University of Washington Campus in downtown Tacoma for The Great State Income Tax Debate, sponsored by Office of Advancement, IAS, P,P &E, League of Women Voters, City Club of Tacoma and Tacoma Pierce County Chamber of Commerce. William Gates Sr. and former Senator Slade Gorton will debate the points of Initiative 1098 (initiative text here) on Monday, October 11, from 6:00pm to 8:30pm in William W. Philip Hall. Registration is required – though there is no fee for admission. Seating is limited – so be sure to register as soon as possible.

I’ll take my chances with it. If it is good enough for Bill Gates Sr., it is good enough for me.

This is cool. Debates on important issues are rare these days.
