Gig Harbor Trolley to Return in 2014

The trial run of summer trolley service in Gig Harbor will be returning next year after a successful 2013 season.

The trolley service met Pierce Transit's goals for ridership and revenue in its first season, and the board voted to bring the service back, but with a few changes.

The main change would be a fare increase from the 25 cents charged during the 2013 "demonstration" season, to as much as $2 for adults in 2014. That's the price currently proposed by Pierce Transit, but it could drop if more community sponsors can be found.

So, if the Gig Harbor Trolley line was a success, and Pierce Transit is looking to "tailored community solutions" in how it provides services, is there a route in Tacoma where something similar could work?
