Supporting Tacoma’s small businesses has always been a good thing to do for so many reasons. And the holiday season is a great time to show your support. Mayor Strickland declared the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday, but there’s no reason to stop at just one day.

Kathleen Cooper over at The News Tribune is looking for suggestions for a Tacoma gift guide for the holidays, which got us thinking about other possibilities… What are your favorite local businesses for gifts? Are there any hidden gems or recent additions that might get overlooked?

    If the city was really concerned with enhancing shopping behavior they would explore ways to reduce the local sales tax rates so that people would have more money in their pockets. It’s a bit disengenuous to suggest people spend more money in local shops while at the same time reducing the amount people have for spending
