Governor in Tacoma
Today Gov. Chris Gregoire kicked off her reelection campaign. She took time to visit Tacoma at two venues. The first at the Landmark Convention Center, the second at King’s Books. We were invited to attend the smaller event at King’s Books.
In a round table of about 12, the Governor fielded questions and comments from local leaders and business owners. She covered everything from taxes to ethanol and was pretty knowledgeable about Tacoma and our issues. Marty Campbell brought up the “Go Local” initiative and she spoke about the recent bill passed to bring local food into our schools. She also discussed the Russell issue and the need to improve our education system. Congressman Norm Dicks chimed in on several issues describing her work and expressing his support for her. All in all, very interesting.
You know, this could be a very interesting election year for Tacoma… If you attended today’s events, did you hear anything in particular that resonated with you?
