Grandfather

Interpreting the FBI’s View of My Grandfather

Generally speaking the file is presented in chronological order. Ignoring the backgound check from 1951 that leads the packet, the next documents begin in the early 1940s, proceed through the 1950s, and end in the 1980s.

My grandpa was a master of languages. I knew this growing up. Every time he found out I was trying out a language, he already knew it. Russian in my freshman year of high school. Check. Spanish. Check. Italian. Check. Swedish. Check. My Swiss-French speaking senior prom date. Check. It was this skill for languages that got the attention of FBI in early 1942.
