Green Tacoma Day - Saturday, September 25
The leaves may be turning and dropping, but the celebration of the third annual Green Tacoma Day will focus on the verdant urban natural areas in our city. Activities and educational opportunities will abound at sixteen such sites on Saturday, September 25, from 9:00am – 12:00pm.
Activities will include a geo-cache adventure, arts, crafts and an owl nature lab at the Tacoma Nature Center. For those looking to get dirty, there will be an ivy pull contest and volunteer work parties. These activities, educational opportunities and more will occur at Tacoma Community College, Pacific Lutheran University, Lincoln High School, Garfield Gulch, McKinley Park, Gog Le Hi Te Wetlands, B Street Gulch, Oak Tree Park, Blueberry Park, Meadow Park Golf Course, Puget Creek Gulch, Julia’s Gulch, First Creek, Swan Creek and Point Defiance Park.
Green Tacoma Day is organized by The Green Tacoma Partnership, which combines the efforts of the City of Tacoma, Metro Parks Tacoma, Tahoma Audubon Society, Cascade Land Conservancy, citizens, educational organizations, neighborhood groups, non-profits, faith-based organizations and businesses to create and support natural spaces in Tacoma.
