    That is really a sad story. The restaurant business seems even more difficult than I thought.

    I’m sorry to see what looked like a great live music venue fade away so fast.

    His epitaph for the restaurant is more than a little self-indulgent and self-congratulatory. Seems like he doesn’t really examine the numbers before investing and then blames others/circumstances for the numbers.

    Yeah, this is something I can kinda/sorta relate to. That whole “everyone refinances all at once when rates drop” thing really has taken the market by storm. I have been in the real estate market for more than 6 months now (buying), and have had two homes slip through my fingers because of this long, drawn-out underwriting process. You just KNOW it’ll be final SOON, but…never soon enough. Those that are caught in a moment of desperation (and who isn’t these days, it would seem) are the ones that get plowed under with the wave of action taking place everywhere.
    Yeah, this is just crap luck, but life is about moving forward and weighing risks and taking on those that are felt to be acceptable. It was obviously a learning experience and could have been much worse. Good news/bad news here is that they totally revamped the place and it kicks butt…and now someone else will inevitably reap the benefits. Pooh.

    I agree with the comment this man is “self-indulgent and self-congratulatory”.I personally found his comments in regards to the previous owners as obscene, slanderous and a total character assignation.This man who praises him self endlessly is so stupid he doesn’t do a market research on a purchase of a restaurant.Don’t believe what he said,I know for a fact he was not left with those enormous bills.Also, you CAN’T purchase a home or business and NOT KNOW THERE IS A TAX LIEN!He shows his racist attitude against the Hispance gay previous owners, saying “La Costa had a very specific customer base and hints at there was more to that story.Also, the new owner knew very well the one owner was going to Mexico, another out right lie! I ate at La Costa all the time, loved the manager, the food and drag shows.Gringo’s service was slow and his food a big grease bomb.This guy needs to re examine his ethics and take responsiblity for his own failures, seems he has had a few.I would be talking to my lawyer if I were the previous owners

    It seems like he made to mistakes. First, he didn’t hire someone to do due diligence.

    Second, I bet if he went to the creditors and said he would be willing to pay x cents on the dollar, they would take it very seriously. If he has the right to truly walk away, they would much rather have something than nothing.

    Is it possible that no one has done a statistical survey of the theme restaurant preferences of local corporate employees?

    Tacoma has Russell with 1100 employees and DaVita with 850 employees.

    Is the public to believe that there’s NO INTEREST from corporate employees for themed restaurants?
