GTCF Spark Grant Applications Due Tomorrow

The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation does a lot of good in Tacoma, working with individuals, nonprofits, businesses and community partners to promote effective philanthropy and to connect people who care with causes that matter. The Foundation works with individuals and organizations on the giving end to get the most out of philanthropic contributions, and with organizations on the receiving end to improve effectiveness.
And they issue Spark Grants.
GTCF Spark Grants are small "micro-grants" meant to help individuals do great things for the Tacoma/Pierce County community.
Spark Grants is a grant program designed to help bring people-powered ideas to life within Pierce County, WA. This is not your typical grant—it’s designed to support everyday people who want to spark positive change.
The program leverages $1,500 “micro-grants” to fuel go-getters, grassroots organizers and connoisseurs of community who have great ideas on how to make their neighborhood a better place.
Projects funded by this program are inspiring, actionable, and relevant to their local community. A wide range of projects are eligible, but priority will be towards those that bring diverse groups together, build on community strengths or offer exciting ideas to address community challenges.
Past Spark grants have funded community events like the Hilltop Street Fair and Orting Farmers' Market; program assets like a large foldable, bike trailered table or canning resources for community food preservation; support for individual and group youth opportunities like camps, one-time celebrations, and funding for individual youth to participate in extracurricular activities; and many more projects.
The current round of Spark Grant applications are due tomorrow, October 1, so if you're a procrastinator, and you've got one sitting on your desk, now's the time to get it in. If you haven't started one for 2014, you're probably a little late now, but be looking for the next round in 2015.
What could you do for your community with $1,500?
