Hathaway Aiming at Tacoma Council Seat 7

John Hathaway of the New Takhoman sent out an email this afternoon announcing his candidacy for Julie Anderson’s City Council seat.

Known as a “watchdog” by some from outside the system, Hathaway said “It’s time someone of my ilk becomes a ‘watchdog’ from inside the system”.

“It is time all of Tacoma’s citizens had a voice on the Council and not just those who have the ear of the current politicos”, Hathaway stated.

Ummm…  I don’t know what to say.  This is going to be a very interesting election cycle for the council.

I did not know Bob Marley and the Wailers were from Tacoma.

This could be very cool if they did it right. I hope they can get the $ together to get it done.

I was interested in the syndicated oldies radio show aspect of the project. Not because I’m into oldies or anything, but it would be neat to have a syndicated radio show coming out of Tacoma. (And speaking of which, where was I when 97.3 FM went from oldies to KIRO news?)

There was a story not long ago about a local radio station (maybe internet station?) that had an eclectic playlist of only music that had some Tacoma connection. I can’t remember the story, but someone here knows I’m sure. Or maybe I was dreaming it.

I don’t want to be negative or anything, but man, is this Museum City or what? No Fortune 500 business to speak of, but museums, we got ‘em.
