Hell's Kitchen Moving Downtown
We learned last night via the TNT’s Tacoma Rock City blog last that Hell’s Kitchen is abandoning their Sixth Avenue location for one downtown. Their new home will be just down the road from Suite133 in the old La Costa / Gringo de Loco / Stephanie’s Gospel and Jazz space in the 900 block of Pacific – on the first floor of Park Plaza North. The impetus for the move is a wee little sprinkler issue. Whatever the case … Welcome to the neighborhood!

This is great. More business downtown. If the Firwood actually plays rock concerts WE will have two rock venues in downtown. Sweeet.

Great to have an established venue in that space. Not good for 6th ave but that area seems to be doing well. Great for downtown.

Will it survive there? Nothing seems to survive there…
So I guess there’s no plan for a Park Place North re-do anytime soon. Drats.

A question that NOBODY ever seems to ask: Where are all these people going to PARK?
They didn’t have enough parking on 6th ave, do they think it’s going to be BETTER downtown?
Until someone comes up with a REAL solution to Parking downtown (besides charging absurd rates, shoving out handicapped citizens and towing and fining people) customers will stay away in droves. LIKE ME.

@Papasan
Are you kidding me? It’s one of THREE storefronts on an entire block that is otherwise dedicated to parking AND public transit.
Also, street parking is typically charged for during business hours to discourage downtown workers from parking all day. For a venue primarily geared towards evening hours, it shouldn’t be too negatively affected by the new parking changes coming.

I’m just thankful they didn’t locate across the street from Laura Hanan.

I heard they were changing their name to “Heaven’s Dining Room” to reflect the new upscale location.

I suspect they will be close enough for Laura. I guess we now have an official International Clubs district.

Hey Hell’s Kitchen, one of the coolest bars I’ve been to, that is a lot like yours, has some of the longest lines in the ladies room. They’ve made up for it by cutting a hole in the wall where the line is and offering full bar service for those of us waiting. I’m just saying!

Parking downtown at night is easy-peasy. Once the majority of business folks depart around 5:30 that block is a ghost town; I know as my office is across the street, and I’m often there at night. The parking usually taken by Coyne’s/Cans/Meconi’s et. al is a little further down the block, so car-bound Hell’s Kitchen aficionados should be just fine.

Thank Christ! I live on N. 7th and I’m sure my property value just got a boost.

Re: Parking.
There are plus or minus a million parking spaces around the new location of Hell’s Kitchen. Many of them free. Plus, the new venue is in the North Park Plaza Parking Garage itself.

There goes our chance to Raze the PPN.
But Tacoma is broke anyway, so if they had started they’d just run out of money and end up with a parking lot anyway.
But right on for Hell’s Kitchen. I hope they take over that whole block at night. We could use some decent clubs downtown.
I inbloodyrise October 29, 2009
Will the new club be about the same size?

So, in the IFSA (International Financial Services Area) this past few months, we lose Russell, but gain Hell’s Kitchen, the Firwood and the Kokonut. Hmmm – you sure them City folks know what IFSA stands for?

With this move Hell’s Kitchen is eliminating All-Ages shows, leaving only one place in Tacoma to have legal All-Ages Rock and Roll shows. Bummer.

Is N. 7th in North Tacoma?? I mean Really?!?!?
