Help Wanted: Golf Course

We caught a note in the TNT the other day that Dave Wienecke, the superintendent of the Chambers Bay Golf Course has resigned.

… on Thursday, the course superintendent responsible for day-to-day grounds operations at the 2010 U.S. Amateur resigned from his position after nearly six years.

Wienecke, 59, was the first Chambers Bay employee hired by KemperSports Management in July 2006, and was the only superintendent the course in University Place has ever known.

As the 2015 U.S. Open draws closer, Chambers Bay’s second in command, Josh Lewis has stepped up to lead operations as interim superintendent. We don’t see the position advertised yet on the Chambers Bay employment page, but according to the TNT, the golf course will be opening the job to other applicants. They plan to have the position filled by year’s end so they can get on with the business of preparing for one of the biggest events in golf.
