Hotel Murano Art Installation - Take 2

So, with one practice round down, the fine folks at the Hotel Murano decided to continue the installation of their Costas Varotos piece this morning. The result…

Success!
… at least from what I could tell. One significant step down. A few more steps to go. Nice work.

I bet someone got a whipping for the first goof up!
Is it just me, or are others feeling underwhelmed with this artistic effort? Maybe it will be great when it is done. It is certainly grand in scale, but it fails to grab me.

I didn’t like the drawing, as it looked a little out of place to me. But it has grown on me since and I am very excited to see the piece after installation.
I remember back when I first saw those blue rock candy swizzle sticks that we going to go up on the Bridge of Glass and thinking they were going to look terrible. Now I stop, look up at them, and compare them to the blue or gray of the sky each time I walk by. I love them.
I’m holding out hope for the same experience with the blue horizon.

Consider IT DONE——now on to the rest of this incredible project which will attract world wide attention (it all-ready has )for the City called TACOMA.
Bring on the “golf bags” & the Tall Ships & the Bluegrass !!

I feel like people often mistake “ambitious” and “grand in scale” with just plain big.
This thing is big. That’s about it…

I walked down the street in the sunshine (that’s right – sunshine) and looked at it live.
It looks great live. Picture does not do it justice. It’s nowhere near completion but it will look great when it is competed.
Get out in the sun (better hurry) and walk over and look at it. Then buy something from a local vendor.

it’s a big fish hook and therefore, a metaphor

Tressie – As I was admiring it someone drove by and asked me “what is it” I told him it was a fishook but was quickly corrected by the people working on it. It’s to be a ladle. Apparently it will be filled w/ glass. The hotel likes to highlight something about the local scene. Glass is the local theme.
I think a giant piece of Almond Rocca would have been cool too. We could walk by and take a bite. That would increase foot traffic to the convention center

I’m a fan of more public art. This looks nice.
