Huge Explosion in the Nalley Valley
We were having a quiet afternoon with friends when the lights flickered. A few moments later, a huge woomph hit us. “Something big just went boom.” We walked outside and looked around. Nothing. The TNT is reporting that the explosion came from the Atlas Foundry in Tacoma’s Nalley Valley. One propane tank has exploded. Another one is on fire. A third is expected to explode.
We live several miles from the site, so… Wow.
Check out the video on King 5.
R.R. has sent us the WSDOT camera that’s pointing at the site. WSDOT says that Highway 16 will be closed for at least four hours.
We hope everybody’s okay.
Here’s the video referenced by RR in the comments (the excitement is at 4 min 15 sec):

It’s open now! The D Street team was the first to drive over it.
Supervalu employees were cheering as they were allowed across.
HOORAY!

Trains will be able to move up to 30 miles an hour faster courtesy of this transportation improvement.
