Ice Skating Returns to Tollefson Plaza November 22

Mark your calendar. November 22. That's the day Tollefson Plaza officially transforms into Polar Plaza with the return of ice skating to our favorite downtown open space.

The ice rink will be open seven days a week, and prices will be the same as last year.

When Franciscan Health System and the Tacoma Art Museum announced earlier this year that Polar Plaza would return, it was despite a downturn in attendance from the first year. The event sponsors hope to turn that around and bring numbers back up in 2013.

Live music, a visit from the Seattle Thunderbirds hockey team, a community festival, and ice skating until midnight on New Year's Eve are planned, with other special events on the way.

So, will you be heading downtown to lace up your skates? What else could they do to get more people out on the ice?
