Kaiser Smokestack Demolition Photos

We stumbled out of bed this morning and headed down to the Port of Tacoma to watch a few explosives go boom.  More specifically, we drove to the designated viewing area for the demolition of the 500 foot tall smokestack on the old Kaiser Aluminum property.  It was quite a show.  A stage was set up with the ceremonial symbolic button set on a table in the middle.  The emcee was working the crowd.  The crowd was all giddy with their digital cameras ready to go.  In the end we were not disappointed.  At exactly 8:00, the explosive went pop, the smokestack turned toward the ground, and, seconds later, the bricks hit the ground and with a thud that shook us to our cores.  That was fun.
