Kathleen Olson To Leave the Zoo?

I know that there are several of you out there that track the comings and goings of the non-profit leadership realm.  Well, we just heard from a loyal reader that Kathleen Olson is leaving as Executive Director of the Point Defiance Zoological Society.  She has been leading the zoo since 2001 and, from what we hear, she’s headed to the The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County.  Cute animals… to cute animals.

This sounds like it has potential! I loved what the CMT did for my toddler. I’ll be interested to see how it pans out as they take programs on the road.

Kathleen Olsen, director of Tacoma Humane Society, Tacoma, WA, gave spayed and neutered, social pet bunnies to an animal broker last Friday. He was also given 4 chinchillas, 1 ferret, 10 guinea pigs, several hamsters and parakeets in October. Not very HUMANE. If you ask me this woman is a monster.

Sadly, this post from 2014 is inaccurate. The bunnies were delivered by the "broker" to a sanctuary to join their petting farm. The sanctuary received many nasty calls and asked the Humane Society to take the bunnies back, which they did. They were all subsequently placed in foster or adoptive homes.
