Kids' Circus Classes Come to Town
Do you want your kid to experience the fun of tumbling without the soul-crushing Darwinism of competitive gymnastics? Well, what’s more fun than a circus?
The Seattle-based School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts, or Sanca, recently started a satellite program in Tacoma. Sanca provides a variety of classes on everything from tight-wire to trampoline for Barnum-wannabes of all ages, including adults. Their Tacoma branch currently offers two circus classes for kids on Wednesdays, featuring activities like acrobatics, juggling, and unicycle. Tuition runs about $100. They also plan to offer an adult tumbling class here early next year.
We feel comfortable posting this program because their website shows no indication of putting kids in scary clown make-up. Can you imagine anything creepier than the girl from “The Ring” wearing the Joker’s facepaint?

I’ve always wanted to take the adult aerial class they offer, but couldn’t quite bring myself to drive all the way to Seattle for it. Hopefully these will be successful enough that they’ll start offering more down here…

SANCA is a unique and interesting group. They will soon be moving out of their UP location and into 411 Fawcett which they will share with Crossfit Tacoma. They needed more space, we want to support groups like them, and we love kids, so bringing them in seemed like a good idea.
