Life For Stalled Projects?
The TNT has a pair of condo/developer related stories that allow us to reminisce about the enthusiasm of once-upon-a-time …
1. The Jackson Building, the seven story plastic wrapped apartment building prominently situated on the south side of downtown, has a new owner. The bank has sold the project to a Chicago based developer. Now what? Any guesses? (Link)
2. The Commencement, a 60 unit condo project in Ruston, is apparently considering a switch to apartments. This project, like a few others in town, lost their financing when their bank ran into some trouble. Then, the economy stalls, developers seek bankruptcy protection … you get the idea. Well, the project may come back to life as high end apartments. Interested? (Link)

Derek – where have you been on this website? It’s just not the site it used to be. No more “On the Market” or original news content. This site used to make me excited about Tacoma but its been pretty bland for awhile.

I’ve been thinking the same thing that Sarah has!

My offline world got in the way … or at least forced some priority shifting. I’m back now and things will be changing here again soon.

Ahhh … it’s the “conversations” with RR Anderson that really are bringing me back to the interwebs.

ok, maybe its not the journalists. maybe its worse. maybe its just THAT boring of a city:( no, the city is pretty mediocre, which makes for good comedy, which in turn means there is no reason the writing then can’t be funny. i keep coming back for my routine cringe fix a la steve dunkelburger: tacoma’s very own GIG-GIDDY GIG-GIDDY swinging photo journalist. LOVE YOU STEVE. thanks to him i get to see the real life ugly american tacoma bar and club scene. GAWD to think about the genetic drift wood thats been washed up and busted up on the shoreline there. there are some BUSTED creatures living amongst you, and to me, covering them is more interesting than a piece on a fucking condo. thanks:)

This Jackson Building mess…This is a highly visible example of what happens when the makers of the utopia known as Tacoma get careless and then decide that anyone can enter through the guarded gates.
Take a look at the Tacoma ridgeline and then ask yourself, “How does the Jackson Building relate to other ridgeline buildings like McCarver School and St. Joseph Hospital?”
V Volcano Boycotting RR Anderson June 10, 2011
what is happening with the Elks? Can we get an update?
A Altered-Chords June 11, 2011
@15 – I looked at the ridgeline driving home Friday. I could not remember the question you suggested that I ask myself. I usually ask other people questions. If I already know the answer to a question I do not need to ask myself.

theres always room for epistemology

Look man, if I scraped a bulldozer trail from City Hall to 25th & Yakima then what you’d see is a huge pile of ineptitude trying to hide its shame with a gauze loincloth.

…and a great avenue for tractor pulls and monster trucks
