Looking Toward the Weekend ...
With the weather back in the “What a Lovely Summer” category, an unusual week in our office keeping us frantic, and several conversations asking us for what’s happening around town, we’ve started looking toward the weekend. In no particular order, here are a few things that have caught the eyes of our friends:
- Tacoma Metro Parks series of Family Carnivals continues this Friday at South Park (4851 S. Tacoma Way). Lots of fun for the kids and featuring the Amzama’s Juggling School.
- The Washington State Historical Society is showcasing four exhibitions ranging from Folk Art, Women’s Suffrage, the History of the Hoh River Valley, and Native American Art.
- Metro Parks Summer Sounds & Cinema series is in full swing and you can find them at Portland Park on the 8th with live music starting at 7pm and a showing of the movie Surfs Up as the sun goes down.
- Of course, you can always fetch your food at the Proctor Farmer’s Market this Saturday. Here’s a great chance to purchase locally grown produce and other goodies and see your neighbors.
- For those looking to step out a bit more, may we direct you across the water to Vashon Island to Cafe Luna for the GRRRLs – Mixed Media Show and a subset of the 1000 Faces of Mother Henna art exhibition.
This is just a mere smattering of things to do this weekend. There are many many more events out there. Be sure to wave as you pass us on the street.

Woofstock is this Sunday 10am to 4:30pm at UPS. Let’s support our furry four-footed friends.
