Lost Tribes of Hilltop

The Hilltop Artists are always working on something special.  Their latest effort, “Shared Values:  The Lost Tribes of Hilltop” is no exception.  The students have been working together to create special “archaeological relics of a lost tribe.”  Each tribe has its own unique spirit animal, and has created glass objects that represent the tribe’s connection to nature, the cultural significance of food, the sacredness of water and the concept of equality.  The work that the student artists do is part imagination, part perspiration, and part teamwork and skill building.  The program is free to students who participate.

The installation, sponsored by Metro Parks and the W.W. Seymour Conservatory Foundation, is hanging in the W.W. Seymour Conservatory at Wright Park, and this weekend brings a couple of special opportunities to experience it for yourself in that unique setting.

Tonight’s (April 13) special preview gives attendees a chance to see and purchase the art, and to meet the young artists behind the exhibit.  Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served, RSVP is required, as space is limited.  Tomorrow (Saturday, April 14) brings a second opportunity to meet the artists at the Artists’ Reception.  If you can’t make either of those events, the art will remain on display through May 24.
