Love Tacoma at New Frontier on Feb. 4th

Update – Love Tacoma is tonight. We’ll be there. Will you?
Love Tacoma is heading to the New Frontier Lounge on Wednesday, February 4th. This Tacoma venue features an eclectic mix of live music performances and a cozy atmosphere. Located at 301 East 25th Street, on the Sound Transit link line and just a block away from Freighthouse Square. The historic building was spared from demolition and updated with modern touches to provide a great new music venue and watering hole in the heart of the Dome District.
All day on the 4th, the New Frontier will be mixing up Pepe Le Pew’s, a sweet concoction of Chambord, vodka and cranberry. Meet and mingle with fellow Tacoma Lovers, enjoy mixed drinks, domestic beers, and a few games of pool and celebrate Tacoma with us.
All are welcome.

isn’t that area a little sketchy?
U uoaaa181 February 3, 2009
it’s only sketchy if you have the suburban mindset
people on the street does not always equal danger

This area is usually deserted, not even homeless/street people are around. (This isn’t the same area as down Portland by Amtrak and the dive bars.) So an empty street is sketchy? Guess most of Tacoma could qualify then.

The New Frontier is a block from Freighhouse Square and is a great spot. No sketchiness. We’ll be there tomorrow. Anybody else joining?

Sketchy? You have never been to North Philly have you?
E Eric February 3, 2009
Ingrown,
Do you mean South Tac tweaker sketchy or those people don’t look like me sketchy.
I Ingrown Toenail February 3, 2009
By “sketchy”, I mean shady persons and activities. I saw a crack deal go down last time I was in that area. That’s sketchy if you ask me,.
B Bill Barnett February 4, 2009
So you’re saying the crack was of a “sketchy” quality?

I’ve seen crack deals go down in Proctor, downtown and hilltop. Alfreds, Freighthouse, The bus station and the New Frontier, not to mention the Tacoma Dome are in the Dome District. I think you’ll be okay.

Ive seen some heavy ladies wearing clothes two sizes too small hanging out on 9th and commerce… when they reach down to tie a shoe look out! CRACK KILLS!

I liked the New Frontier. Nice simple bar. The guitarist last night played some good music for hanging out to. Need more people to show up to events, though.
T Thorax O'Tool February 5, 2009
Not everyone like the bar scene.
And apparently some people like to watch drug deals.

If people go to the area and are visible, the likelyhood of crack deal diminishes.
When people hide and run, that’s when the criminals feel safe because no one is watching.
Of course, if you have an ingrown toenail, you are expected to stay at home and soak it until you feel well enough to come out again.
T Thorax O'Tool February 6, 2009
The criminals also feel safe while the Fuzz spends it’s time sitting on Ruston Way, harassing people putting up fliers, committing a DWB or giving parking tickets for being 0.25” too far from the curb instead of fighting real crime.

Faulty parking is a “gateway behavior” That’s where it all starts. Your wheels are pointed the wrong way while parked on a hill, you’re too far from the curb. Why…because you think you are above the law. You think it’s ok because you’re not “hurting” anyone. Well you are. Before you know it you’re selling crack near freighthouse square thinking it’s OK because you’re not hurting anyone. Before long you’re damaging the US economy by not buying anything even though you are sitting on piles of gold.
Tragic.
