Tacoma Marathon Looking For Volunteers
Last year’s Tacoma City Marathon was a huge success and this year it’s going to be bigger. So far, more than 1,000 people have already registered for the event to be held May 10, and the organizers expect that to increase to at least 3,000 or 4,000 (last year had 2,000 competitors).
Jon at the Sports Commission tells us:
This race is becoming well known nationally because of the course scenery, time of year (much better than Seattle’s notoriously lousy November date), and it’s USA Track and Field course certification. Many of the folks who compete in the Tacoma City Marathon are attempting to qualify for the Boston and New York City Marathon. To sum it up, this race is getting the Tacoma name out to a national audience.
You can show off your civic pride by becoming a volunteer. And after the marathon you can keep that civic pride alive with the free Tacoma City Marathon jacket given to all volunteers. If you’re interested in helping out, you can sign up here.
