Marcato Condos Close Out Auction on Oct. 17th

We just received word that the remaining 17 units in the Marcato Condos will be going up on the auction block October 17th. Marcato is a 93 unit condo project located in the heart of downtown Tacoma at South 15th and Tacoma Avenue. One bedroom, one bath units that were once priced at over $225,000 will now have a minimum bid of $95k. Two bedroom units will carry a minimum bid of $135k.

With all the buyer incentives out there and seven more years of tax abatement on this property, maybe this is your great opportunity.

Just so you know, buyers must be pre-registered and pre-qualified with the seller’s designated lender prior to bidding. They also should inspect the specific property they wish to bid on prior to the auction. To help those new to auction buying, a pre-auction seminar for interested buyers will be held on Thursday, October 8th at 7 pm.

Do you remember the golden age of condos rumors and development in Tacoma? Yeah … it’s been a while.

well, those opening bids are a normalish Tacoma price…Golden Age of Condos? No. I don’t remember that.

When I bought at the marcato in 2006 they sold me with this wonderful idea of 3 additional phases. An 8 screen movie theatre and yes, a Metropolitan Market. Glad to see my investment paid off! I’m f’d. It was nice to dream back then though.. However, I have enjoyed living there.

How long before the Mecca ends up on the auction block as well?

I heard that an adult theater was considering leasing the bottom floor of the mecca and renting out the upstairs units on an “as needed” basis.

They should soon be filled with people which will be a bonus for downtown.

Those HOA dues are way too high — up to $365 a month?? For what??!!

I would pay $365/ month to have someone mow my lawn and trim the bushes/weeds.

The HOA dues were the icing on the cake for me NOT to condsider purchasing a Condo as a second home investment. The prices themselves…reasonable. These places are pretty nice. But nobody can justify those HOA dues.
