Mark Lindquist Sworn in as County Prosecutor
Yesterday’s Pierce County Council agenda included Proposal No. R2009-83, a resolution to fill the County Prosecutor position left vacant by the retirement of nine year prosecuting attorney Gerald Horne. With a unanimous vote, the County Council swore in Mark Lindquist as the new prosecuting attorney effective immediately.
Lindquist has been with the prosecutor’s office for fourteen years, most recently as the Chief Criminal Deputy. Prior to that he was the Team Chief of the Drug unit from 2004 through 2008. With a year left on Horne’s term, he now has to gear up for an election in 2010 to keep the new job.
Of course, many of you know Lindquist as a bestselling novelist. His last book, The King of Methlehem, was set in Tacoma and includes many of our community landmarks (and a reference to Exit133 on page 33).
Congratulations, Mark.

I’m doing jury duty this week and met Lindquist at the espresso stand this morning – it’s nice to have another accessible prosecutor – and one that likes Chai Lattes no less.
The memory will be almost as strong as that of the face of the civil defense attorney when I asked if he worked for AIG in voir dire!

Thanks Derek and Exit 133. You’ll be in the next book, too. ML
