Metro Parks Need You!
Have you ever wanted to help shape Tacoma? Here’s an opportunity to get involved. In November 2005 Tacoma passed an $84.3 million bond measure to support Metro Parks and work is underway. The money is there, but now it’s time for the hard part – planning and executing the vision. What is the vision? Ahhh… you can help with that too. Here are a couple ideas:
1. Do you want to know what’s going on at your park – the one by your house or the one where you take your dog? Click here and check out the map. Then sign up for e-alerts and let the folks at the park department tell you when they need you.
2. Point Defiance Charettes are in progress. What’s a charette? It’s effectively a type of focus group designed to brainstorm and visually develop ideas. The next one is in April and will focus on the park’s attractions like its gardens, Lodge and Pagoda, Zoo & Aquarium, Camp 6, and Fort Nisqually. Dude, somebody has to give some love to Camp 6! This is your opportunity to really help shape the future of our park. Click here for more details.
