Mighty Tacoma Event Opens Today

Looking for an after-work activity? Head on down to the Tacoma Art Museum and help them celebrate both their 75th anniversary and the opening of the Mighty Tacoma exhibit.

Museum admission is just 75 cents all day, and free from 5-8 p.m. during Art Walk.

We just paid the new exhibit a visit, and can confidently say: it’s worth your while.

Photos of Tacoma taken by (mostly) Tacoma-based artists adorn the walls, and visitors have two opportunities to become a part of the collaborative, interactive exhibit.

Portraits of visitors taken by TAM’s artist-in-residence are projected digitally within the exhibit, and will be added to the museum’s website. In addition, visitors can take part in “Tacoma 7.5,” a video project documenting people’s thoughts on Tacoma – in 7.5 seconds or less.

We participated in both projects, but to find out what we said about Tacoma you’ll just have to make your way down there. And just in case you need a little extra motivation: there’s a beer garden!

I’m becoming more afraid of our police than the “bad element” they’re supposed to be protecting us from. I hope Arianna will find some comfort in the fact that her story is being picked up and posted on other independent websites and blogs.

It would appear that some parts of Tacoma are mightier than others.

Restraining orders are becoming more about keeping the unwritten common law trash in their place than they are about preventing abuse.

I’d say often they are used by the ‘them’ to in fact recreate the cycle of abuse, once again.

It hasn’t been the same on Exit133 since Daniel Blue was pushed away from Tacoma.

Oh come now, let’s not be maudlin! Only a week and a half ago, I was cluttering your facebook feed with updates. It’s just been a quiet several days.

I think Exit133 is still relevant. I just found out where to get a good deal on Ugg boots. What is more important, political discourse or where to get some cute Ugg boots?
