I’m here in Colorado, missed it, but am doing some civic touristing as I have family here and am able to make extended and repeated stays.
Colorado has a State law that basically ‘zones’ State Highways, commercial district, rural, etc. It’s called ‘access management’ a term the feds also use for interstate and offramp control.
Like with zoning street improvements are only triggered by new development, and the general idea looks interesting, albeit at the local level it would be different. It’s been in effect here since the mid ’80’s.
The big thing they’ve got on the table here is a ‘bike’ undercross of a State highway through the downtown. I was sceptical, but supposedly it was a big success in Boulder.
