More Sounder for Tacoma & Lakewood, Less for Everett
Sound Transit will be taking a couple of cars from its Everett to Seattle Sounder line, and relocating them to the Lakewood-Tacoma-Seattle route.
Pulling one car each from two of the four trains making daily trips between Everett and Seattle for the Sounder North line cut costs on that route, which has seen ridership fall recently.
The Lakewood-Tacoma-Seattle Sounder now has a total of six trains running all the way to Lakewood every 20 minutes morning and night.
Ridership on the Sounder South line in Pierce County has grown to an average over 10,500 per weekday, compared to barely over 1,200 on the northern end.
