More Streetcar Press

Could we actually see streetcars again in Tacoma? To follow up on our first posting on this topic, it appears that Morgan Alexander’s idea to bring back back the streetcar is gaining at least a few supporters. The News Tribune’s Dan Voelpel ran a column featuring the idea and it suddenly seems more reasonable than when I first heard of it.

One of the things that appeals to me is the whole value-added thing. A streetcar is not just a device to move people around. It’s something that should add character to our neighborhoods.

This is creative. Bring on more creativity. The vision for Tacoma needs to move beyond simply building luxury condos and the convention center. How about a few things that might improve the lives of those that already live here?
