Moveable Feast: Food Carts in Tacoma

On a purely semantic level, we’re never fans of “first annual” anythings. We love annual events, and we love new events, but we can’t quite bring ourselves to embrace the phrase “first annual.” So we were glad on two fronts when the inaugural Moveable Feast food truck event was announce last year.

And we’re equally glad to see Moveable Feast become a legitimate annual event. The food truck extravaganza will return to Cheney Stadium again this year, on Sunday, July 28.

Many of last year’s favorites will return, along with some new options. The Moveable Feast site lists nearly 40 vendors so far, along with half a dozen breweries big and small. The event will again feature live music, and a VIP option for those looking to beat the crowds, score better parking, and support the event.

NWmilitary.com reports that this year there will be more access to Cheney Stadium’s party decks for additional seating and a chance to get into the ballpark.

New this year as well is a “Made In Tacoma” section of food stuffs that got their start in Tacoma. The site lists half a dozen familiar names like Lynnae’s Pickles, and promises more to come. The goods will be for sale in a special market-style section on the Cheney Stadium left field party deck.

We love the addition of the made in Tacoma section, and we’re looking forward to seeing a fuller list of local options.

Will we see you there?

Awesome event! Kudos to the people organizing this. Couple this with an art bizarre/sale and some music every Saturday (April to December) and you have a Saturday Market. I'd love to see that happen. The Graffiti Garage/Broadway/South of Elks parking lot would be a great place for it too. McMenamins sponsor for seed money? If there were someone interested in doing that, I'd help on the committee.
