Movies and Music in the Parks Start Saturday

Here at Exit133 we are big fans of free stuff. Especially when the free stuff is at least vaguely cool. Which is why we are excited about the free Saturday entertainment every weekend until the end of August.

Metro Parks and Comcast are teaming up to bring us outdoor concerts and movies for the next six weeks, for FREE. Music starts at 6:30 and the movies begin at dusk. Locations vary, so look for one in your neighborhood. The line up includes movies like Casablanca and Bee Movie, and the music is everything from Michael Powers to the Army First Corps Band.

Did we mention it’s free?

First Up:

Saturday, July 26, 2008
Wright Park – (501 South I)

Concert: The Rumba Kings
Movie: Freedom Writers
Rated: PG-13 Run Time: 123 min

Anybody else see the oddity in MetroParks teaming up with Comcast?

This is great, but I’m not wild about that whole Comcast sponsorship. For one thing, isn’t Comcast a competitor with the city?

Those were my thoughts as well, and it definitely seems odd. Maybe Click spent too much on that purple LINK train and blew through their advertising budget? I’ll bet Metro Parks approached Click first (at least I hope so).
