MultiCare Plans to Buy Auburn Regional Medical Center

MultiCare Health Systems, one of the largest employers in Tacoma will be taking on operation of the hospital and clinics of Auburn Regional Medical Center, which it plans to purchase from Universal Health Services Incorporated based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

The addition of the Auburn facilities to MultiCare’s list of hospitals and clinics would add more than 800 to the number of employees working for the healthcare provider, bringing its total closer to 10,000.

Universal Health Services currently owns and operates more than 230 facilities in 38 states, pus the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, so you could say that the deal would bring management a little closer to home for the Auburn center. The deal awaits regulatory approval, and barring challenges, is expected to go through later this summer.
