Mystery Romance EP

After Phil O’Sullivan’s previous band, the Nouveau Rich, disbanded he decided it was time to slow down and figure out what’s changed with him musically and spiritually. I talked to Phil after his CD release party at Jazzbones this weekend, which played to a full house.
A self described “shameless lover of love” who is “compelled by human emotions and how individuals live, cope or even hide from them.” Phil states “one of the most important things you can do as a human is sit still and pay attention to yourself … [A person’s] got to be right with themselves before they go love somebody else.”
The Mystery Romance EP is a unique musical expression which echoes these sentiments. The lyrics are insightful and clear, Phil’s vocals powerful and sweet. His eclectic palate of influences range from Neil Young, Mos Def, Bob Dylan to Hank Williams. Phil pulls it all together with resonating Americana, country and rock music making it powerfully his own.
After the release Saturday, he’ll carry the momentum through the next several, busy months. Phil will be performing in Tacoma and Seattle, promoting his EP through local radio stations and music stores, planning a west coast tour and working on a full-length album. All of this while working full time for the Zoo Society. Come summer I believe he’ll have earned his Argentine, steak and wine vacation.
It’s people like Phil O’Sullivan who enrich the heart of this town.
_Phil O’Sullivan will be performing at the High Dive in Seattle, Tuesday October 23rd at 9pm. The Mystery Romance EP will be on sale Tuesday October 23, available at Buzzards and online at PhilOSullivan.com

Ugh. I’m still digesting this…but I hate 99.99% of what Pound Transit is doing with stretching trains to the south. Diesel is a dying technology….biodiesel from food crops is on its way out (I drove a biodiesel car so I studied the issues)and what comes next with the diesel fuel world…hmmm. Light rail or other electric/solar buses is such a better solution to moving peeps to the points beyond. But Backs are Being Slapped, and Pockets are Being Lined. It makes me sick to think about how other cities/countries all over the globe are trying to be modern and clean, and here, we’re stuck with profiteering and well, I’m feeling like a train is running over me….Sound Transit…is an oxymoron. Nothing sound about this decision. Too much ugly, pollution and anti-human going on here. It may be possible to design this project to be an artful asset, but given the track record…..I doubt it.

Removing the need to travel is the only sustainable, not-insane solution to all our problems. When cheap energy is gone, our society will self correct. As resident doomsayer I predict the transition will suck ass for everyone… though (on the upswing) it will be funny.

You mean Tunnel Lovin’ Nickels? and is Ladenburg reaping repercussions of his recent mini-scandal? Yes, there will always be humor but often only of the smug eye-rolling variety…and hello…“track record” is not humor?
