Narrows Bridge Toll Increase - Last Chance for Public Comment

The Washington State Transportation Commission is seeking public input on proposed Tacoma Narrows Bridge toll rate increases.

After a lengthy process the Commission has come up with proposed toll rates as follows:

  • $4 for Good to Go! pass holders
  • $5 for drivers paying cash at the toll booth
  • $7 for pay by mail option

Tickets are no longer issued, but drivers who cross the bridge headed east without the Good to Go! pass, and without stopping will be automatically charged the $7 by mail.

Members of the public interested in commenting on the proposed rate changes will have two opportunities this month:

  • 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, Port Orchard City Hall, 216 Prospect St.
  • 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, Gig Harbor Civic Center, 3510 Grandview St.

The Commission will also hold a final rate hearing and take action to adopt the new rates in Gig Harbor on Monday, May 21. If the increases are approved, the new rates will take effect July 1.

Increases in tolls on the bridge were built into its financing, and the Commission is required by law to set the rates in an amount that is sufficient to pay the debt for bridge construction, maintenance, and operations.
