National Night Out & A March for Peace
Next Tuesday, August 1st, is the National Night Out Against Crime. In conjunction with NNO, the Safe Streets Youth Leading Change Program is sponsoring the “March For Peace On The Eastside”. It runs from 3:00pm to approximately 6:00pm on Wednesday. It’s going to start at McKinley Playfield and wind its way through the Eastside and down to the Portland Ave Community Center. From the flyer:
Each year, on the first Tuesday in August, people across America gather in their own communities to take a stand against crime. This year, in Tacoma, some people are also going to march together to spread the message that violence is unwelcome in our community and that it is time for a culture of peace to take hold on Tacoma’s Eastside. Please join us in showing that Tacoma residents reject violent crime and embrace peaceful community living.
