Need to Beat the Heat?

With the excessive heat warnings flying into our inbox, we thought it would be good to remind everyone that it’s warm outside …

Should you be looking for a little psychosomatic treatment for the heat, Click! Cable TV customers can tune to “Click! 1” (channel 1 for those with cable receivers or channel 117 for those without a receiver) between July 27 and July 30 to cool off with pictures of recent winter snowstorms in the Tacoma area. The photos are courtesy of Kevin Freitas.

On the other hand, should you need a blast of air conditioning, Pierce County has provided a list of official cooling stations through the county. Pierce County libraries, Bonney Lake Senior Center, and Lakewood City Hall will welcome everyone. The Pierce County Department of Emergency Management also encourages citizens to take advantage of cooler air in other public buildings such as movie theaters, malls and air conditioned stores. Lowe’s and Petsmart also allow pets to come in with their owners (on a leash or in a crate).

Stay cool out there.

For a complete list of locations, check out this list. (pdf)

Bruce Springsteen never wrote a song called “The Girls In Their Puffy Winter Jackets”. I’m just sayin’…
