New Book Offers Tacoma Trivia to Schools

You know we Tacomans love our city trivia. And now, thanks to the Tacoma Historical Society, you’ve got another way to get it.

This morning’s News Tribune has the story: a $5,000 grant from the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation enabled the historical society to publish Tacoma’s Twenty-One Tales Every Student Should Be Able to Tell, and offer copies to public and private schools throughout the city. The book will also be sold to the public for $6.99.

And if you don’t know the names of the two white statues at the entrance to Wright Park by now, here’s your chance to learn.

The book’s official release is slated for Sunday’s Destiny Dinner and Auction.

…to read this book you’d think every event in the history of the city happened only in North Tacoma. Not one bit of trivia for all the rich history in other parts of the city. Nothing mentioned of anything which occurred in South Tacoma or other areas. I hope THS is planning a sequel with the intent to be much more broadly inclusive in the next publication. Geez.
