New Establishment Coming to Ruston from the Owner of The Parkway

Here's an exciting development to keep an eye on: the owners of The Parkway Tavern are working on a new restaurant in Ruston. Spotted via the Ruston Home blog:

Just in case you are wondering what the activity is at the former Cole's Tavern at 51st and Pearl, there is a new restaurant under construction. The owner of the Parkway Tavern is putting his faith in our locale and doing a major remodel to the building.

These are still very early plans, but they are marked "approved." We see a restaurant and bar with a south-facing garage door opening off a dining area, and above the first floor restaurant space, apartments. You can download the full plans thanks to a link from Ruston Home

There's clearly a lot of work to be done on the building, but work has already begun, and we're looking forward to seeing this move ahead.

With the Point Defiance Tap and Grill already open and doing business, and this in the works, the Antique Sandwich Company and Don's Ruston Market have some company. And of course the folks down at the Defiant Goldfish are still working to pull that project off (we heard a little rumor that they're aiming for an opening sometime this summer...).

Is Ruston turning into a new dining destination?

Coles was one of the best blues clubs in the region.

Of course Ruston is turning into a dining destination. It is close to Tacoma, has no $15.00 now initiative so it is the only reasonable choice for a speculative venture like a new restaurant.

Dude, the date on the plan says July 25, 2013. This has been in process loooong before the minimum wage campaign started. Sorry to rain facts on your ideology parade.

1 fact, 1 drop of rain. Not enough to cancel a parade.
