New & Improved UWT Book Store: More Comfortable, More to Offer, & Open to the Public

The UWT book store has always been open to the public, but it's always felt a little... like a school book store. That changes with the remodel of the space, wrapping up this week.

With the grand reopening, visitors will find a new "bookstore/coffee house" vibe that may remind you more of a Barnes & Noble or other comfortable bookstore. The changes come with an open-door policy that welcomes customers to wander over from the neighboring Starbucks. Visitors can browse the books, enjoy comfortable seating, and a newly installed fireplace (not quite up and running just yet, but soon). The new bookstore boasts an events space for book signings, indoor and outdoor seating, new food options, and a big-screen TV.
Staff are planning events to take advantage of the new space, including a range of author events, a new weekly kids' story times, and Husky game-day viewing. Students and alumi don't need to worry, though - the store will continue to sell textbooks and a range of Husky gear, so there will be no shortage of purple and gold.
The store isn't any bigger, but the new floor plan uses space better. The UWT mission of being an "urban serving university" is reflected in the new open-door policy for the bookstore, which the university hopes will become a community destination.
With weather like this, enjoying a good book and a cup of coffee by the fireplace sounds pretty good...
