New in 2013: Pierce County Votes Digital "Stickers"

In July we reported the end of the "I voted" sticker in Pierce County. Now there's a new option, at least for those voters who use online social media. Pierce County has released new "Pierce County Votes" digital "sticker" options for your Facebook and Twitter profiles (sorry Google+ users).

It's pretty simple - fill out your ballot, then visit the Pierce County Auditor page and download your choice of Facebook cover (gif), or Facebook profile (jpeg) or Twitter profile (gif) images.

Eliminating the stickers saves the County about $20,000 every election, and Pierce County Auditor Julie Anderson is on the record saying that the stickers were not widely used and didn't add value to the election process.

Do the digital "stickers" for social media replace or improve on the old physical stickers? Do they add value to the election process? Will you use them?

I like the social media option, and I think it will probably get noticed by more people than the old stickers, but I'll still miss wearing the old "I voted!" stickers. I always wore mine proudly, and liked seeing them on others.
