Nominate Your Favorite Tacoma Tourism Star

Do you know someone in the community who deserves recognition for the work they do to make Tacoma a welcoming destination for visitors?

The Tacoma Regional Convention and Visitor Bureau has opened nominations for its “Tourism Celebrity Awards.” The Bureau invites all members of the public to nominate candidates who have “gone above and beyond for the tourism community” in any of its four award categories. Here are the four categories:

Community Unity: This award recognizes a STAR who continuously works to unite the Pierce County community through collaboration, innovation and regional projects.

Tourism Professional of the Year: This award honors a STAR whose exceptional service and outstanding commitment to the tourism industry in Pierce County has contributed significantly to the success of the tourism industry.

Allen C. Mason Tourism Visionary: This award honors a STAR whose long-term effort, commitment and trail-blazing accomplishments as a pioneer have set the stage for regional tourism.

Sports Tourism: This award recognizes a STAR who has worked to improve the community through amateur sports tourism, giving their time, talents and generosity to help attract and promote sporting events to Pierce County. Sponsored by the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Commission.

We’ve got some ideas of our own, including, for the “Sports Tourism” award, recognizing the “time, talents and generosity” they give to Tacoma Runners and Tacoma Cyclocross, MikeandLisa Hahn.
