Tomorrow: Veterans Day
Tomorrow, Friday, November 11th is Veterans Day. That means long weekends for some of you. It means that banks, public schools and some government offices will be closed, but don’t forget to put the trash out; pick-up is on normal schedules. It also means a day of honor and thanks for the veterans in our community. Thanks to all who have served our country.
Arctic Animal Play Day and Veterans Appreciation Day at the Zoo
The Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium is celebrating Veterans Day with Arctic Animal Play Day and Veterans Appreciation Day, a day of free admission for active and retired military and special activities. Animals from the Zoo’s Arctic Tundra and Rocky Shores exhibits will be featured in special presentations and activities. For more information, visit www.pdza.org.
Prairie Line Trail Tour
If you’re curious about what’s going on with the Prairie Line Trail in Downtown Tacoma, or are just looking for an interesting Art at Work event, this Saturday’s Prairie Line Trail Walking Tour is your chance to tour the trail, see the “temporary art interventions,” and hear a little about the history and future of the trail. Once the major railway in town, the strip sat more or less neglected for a while, but has recently become a focus of downtown development attention, and even a little controversy. This month it will feature public art.
For more information on the Prairie Line Trail Tour, follow this link for event details.

UWT has invited representatives from local organizations, including our very own Occupy Tacoma and Jobs with Justice to participate in a panel discussion and open forum. Open to the public.
When: Thursday, November 17th, 2011, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
