Crabbing Reopens Today
How about some crab with your turkey? Tacoma-Vashon and South Puget Sound fishing areas open for crabbing again at 8:00 a.m. today. These areas were closed after Labor Day, due to problems with quotas that may or may not be of interest to you. The areas will be open seven days a week now through New Year’s, with a daily catch limit of five Dungeness and six red rock crabs. Read more on the closures and reopening from The Olympian.
City Offices Closed Thursday and Friday
Just a quick reminder that City of Tacoma administrative offices will be closed this Thursday and Friday, so that they can all enjoy a long weekend with family and friends. So take care of any business you might have with them now. Or procrastinate until next week…
Also remember that the holiday means garbage pick-up on Thursday will be bumped to Friday, and Friday pick-ups will be bumped to Saturday. And the dump will also be closed for turkey day, so you won’t be able to make any dump runs on Thursday. So if you’ve got some major cleaning to do before the relatives get here for Thanksgiving dinner, you’ll want to get it done by Wednesday.
Does a bear … ?
UW Tacoma invites you to join them for a conversation in their Environmental Science Seminar Series called “Effects of biosolids on forests and fungi: free fertilizer, but with toxic metals as a hidden cost.” Or as we would have titled it: “Does Should a bear (you know what) in the woods?” December 5th, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. in the UW Tacoma
Science Building, Room 309. For information, contact Joel Baker, urbanh2o@uw.edu.
