Oh, and we have air pollution too

On the heels of some bad press about Tacoma’s high schools, we hear that the state Department of Ecology lists greater Tacoma as the only place in Washington that fails to meet air pollution standards for “fine particulate matter.”

Although the report gives us someone to blame, too. South Hill and Frederickson. Apparently a lot of people there use uncertified woodstoves to heat their home.

The state is kicking in some money to help people in the area replace their woodstoves. For information about about the woodstove replacement program, call the agency at 206-343-8800.
