On the Market: Columbia Bank Building
According to the TNT today, the Fisher’s Department Store building (aka Columbia Bank Building) will be up for auction online at the end of this month.
The five story, 88,000 square foot building built in 1905 at the corner of 11th and Broadway downtown once upon a time housed Tacoma’s Bon Marche department store. The building has been through some changes, including an eventual remodel to Class B office space. It’s now about two-thirds full, with Columbia Bank as the main tenant.
The online auction will be February 25 through February 27. The assessed value is listed at $6.77 million. The starting bid is $1.5 million.
So, anyone in the market for a prime piece of downtown Tacoma real estate? Or maybe you know a company that would benefit from easy access to Galanga Thai … or Fujiya?

My dream would be to see a Nordstrom rack store there or perhaps an REI.

Who will be our new neighbors?

REI! Downtown would be so much better than the current location.
Maybe it could be the final act of Sally Jewell before she moves on to the Interior Dept.
